Manoa: A Pacific Journal of International Writing, in collaboration with guest editors Eric M. B. Becker and Noah Perales-Estoesta, is developing a new anthology of Brazilian literature in English translation. Manoa is published by the University of Hawai'i Press, and brings readers writing—frequently in translation—from Asia, the Pacific, and the Americas. Our Brazil volume is scheduled for release next year (the journal's thirtieth) and will be the sixtieth issue in the series.

We're looking for the best of Brazilian poetry, short fiction, novels (excerpts), literary nonfiction (memoir, personal essay, narrative journalism, oratory, etc.), and drama. Our preference is for contemporary writers, but new translations of older writing are welcome as well. We are unconcerned with length (for now), and we encourage you to submit multiple pieces. We ask that all submissions be accompanied by the Portuguese-language originals.

The deadline for submissions is 11 December, but depending on the status of your translations, we may be able to grant extensions until January. Submissions should be emailed to noahperalestoesta@gmail.com
